The Swedish government has agreed with its support party on a framework for additional military support for Ukraine totaling 75 billion kroner, or $7 billion over three years. The Swedish government reported this, writes Reuters.
“In order to strengthen Swedish support for Ukraine and increase the long-term outlook, the government and the Sweden Democrats have agreed to introduce a framework for military support to Ukraine for 2024-2026,” the statement said.
It is noted that these funds will be evenly distributed over three years. Also, with the proposed addition, the total planned military and other assistance for Ukraine from Sweden will be more than 100 billion crowns.
According to the new program, military support may include the transfer of defense equipment, financial contributions and support for the procurement of defense equipment.
“The framework could burden public finances for several years and even beyond 2026,” the statement added.
