Macron on Ukraine: Peace is not capitulation

French President Emmanuel Macron warned against weakening support for Ukraine in its defense against Russia.
"Today, standing on the side of peace means giving force to the law. Peace is not capitulation. Peace is not a renunciation of principles. Peace means allowing a country to defend its borders and sovereignty," Macron said after a conversation with German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin, reports Tagesschau.
At the same time, Steinmeier also stressed that assistance to Ukraine should not be weakened. On Sunday morning, Chancellor Olaf Scholz noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin was prepared for 24,000 Russian soldiers to die or be seriously injured every month for his “imperialist dreams.”
