Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky notes that when Mark Rutte takes over the post of NATO Secretary General in October, Ukraine looks forward to continuing to work together to ensure the protection of people and freedom throughout the Euro-Atlantic community.

He wrote about this on his X page, noting that he welcomes Rutte with the allies' decision to appoint him as the next NATO Secretary General.

“When Mr. Rutte takes over this position from Jens Stoltenberg in October, we look forward to continuing our work together to ensure the protection of people and freedom throughout our Euro-Atlantic community,” Zelensky said.

The president added that he knows Rutte as a principled and strong leader who has repeatedly demonstrated his determination and vision in recent years.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Stoltenberg for his significant contributions to the strengthening of NATO during the previous ten years of his tenure, as well as for his unwavering support for Ukraine’s struggle for freedom,” the head of state said.
