Completion of basic general military training is provided for by the Law of Ukraine on conscription and military service. On the air of Ukrainian Radio Cherkassy, the deputy head of the Cherkasy regional territorial center for recruitment and social support, Lieutenant Colonel Vasily Frizyuk, spoke about who can be released from this duty and what the main provisions of this process are.
Basic military training replaces military service and is carried out only once. It must be completed before reaching 25 years of age, and you can choose the period of completion yourself. According to the law, basic training must take place in military educational institutions of higher education, as well as in other military educational institutions, regardless of their form of ownership.
Who is exempt from training?
Vasily Frizyuk explained that certain categories of citizens may be exempt from basic military training. The main categories of persons who may not receive training include:
1. Persons with disabilities: - Citizens who have medical contraindications that make it impossible to undergo military training.
2. Students and students: - Persons who continue their studies in higher education institutions or other educational programs.
3. Certain categories of workers: - Citizens employed in positions important to the state and society that require constant presence and cannot be replaced.
Training process
For those who are required to undergo basic military training, it will be organized in accordance with state standards and conducted in specialized military educational institutions. Frizyuk emphasized that this could be either a public or private educational institution accredited to conduct military training.
The Law of Ukraine on conscription and military service provides for mandatory basic military training up to 25 years of age, with the possibility of choosing the period of its completion.
