The Czech Republic announced the transfer of 50 thousand ammunition to Ukraine, and plans to increase this amount to 500 thousand by the end of the year. Germany also participated in the supply of this batch of ammunition, which emphasizes international cooperation in supporting Ukraine.
Czech Defense Minister Jana Chernokhova announced the transfer to Ukraine of the first batch of 180 thousand ammunition purchased at German expense. In total, the Czech Republic intends to supply up to half a million shells to the Ukrainian Armed Forces this year. According to the Czech publication Ceske Noviny, 18 countries are participating in this initiative, of which 15 have provided financial support.
Cooperation with Germany
In the process of supplying ammunition, the Czech Republic worked closely with Germany. Chernokhova emphasized the importance of this partnership, noting that Germany played a key role in securing the first batch of ammunition for Ukraine.
The Czech authorities do not disclose in which countries they purchase ammunition for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Chernokhova explained that the Czech Republic seeks to receive ammunition from countries that may be neutral and do not want to clearly position themselves on the side of one of the parties to the conflict. This allows us to expand supply capabilities and provide Ukraine with the necessary resources.
Regular deliveries
Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala previously announced that ammunition would be delivered to Ukraine regularly, every month. This strategy allows the Ukrainian Armed Forces to receive a stable supply of ammunition and effectively plan their operations. In April, Czech President Petr Pavel also noted that Prague had found more than a million artillery shells in third countries, which could be purchased for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The transfer of ammunition from the Czech Republic to Ukraine is an important element of international support in the context of the ongoing conflict. Cooperation with Germany and the participation of other countries in this initiative highlight the collective efforts to ensure security and stability in the region. In the coming months, Ukraine will continue to receive the necessary resources for defense, which will be a significant contribution to its efforts to counter aggression.
