NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said whether Ukraine could become a member of the Alliance gradually - first, territories controlled by the authorities, and subsequently de-occupied.
In an interview with the information telethon, the Secretary General was asked whether he considered the so-called German scenario to be realistic. "We have seen different models and I will be careful in speaking about what kind of solution can be applied to Ukraine. I think that the most important result of this summit is a very strong political message from all allied countries that Ukraine will become a member of NATO and that its path membership is irreversible,” he replied.
According to Stoltenberg, the allies are demonstrating their support through actions by providing military assistance to Ukraine. “If Putin wins, then there will be no discussion of the issue of membership. The only way to ensure Ukraine’s membership in NATO is to prevent Putin from winning, and therefore to ensure that Ukraine remains sovereign and independent,” he emphasized.
