Ukrainian border guard Igor with the call sign “Tramp” spoke about the battles with Russian invaders in the Donetsk region.

According to the State Border Service page on the Facebook social network, the military has been protecting the country since 2022. In one rotation, he went through street battles in Bakhmut, held back the invaders in the trenches near Khromov, and also covered the infantry with a grenade launcher in Kurdyumovka.

“Our soldiers did not hold the defense of the famous fortress for long, because at that time the city was virtually destroyed. The border unit was moved to the defense of Khromov, where Igor was wounded. Heavy close fighting continued in the village, the enemy did not stop his “meat assaults”, and skirmishes with the enemy was at ultra-short distances,” the report says.

Igor says that one of his brothers-in-arms, whom everyone called “Pastor,” constantly called on the fighters to pray. “Apparently, his piety saved his and our lives. Not a single one came out of our position without being wounded, but all of them were alive. I myself was hit in the arm by a ricochet,” the defender said.

The next day, a Russian sniper shot the Pastor, but the bullet entered between the ribs, without hitting any important organ, and went right through. After the restoration, the border guards, together with other units of the Defense Forces, set off to liberate Kurdyumovka. Igor provided fire cover for the infantry from an easel automatic grenade launcher. “It was not easy. Often from a position it was necessary to walk several kilometers with all the ammunition and a grenade launcher,” the note says.

Now the border guard is fighting in the Volchansk direction as part of the "Gart" brigade. His mother, wife and two children are waiting for him at home. “God grant that we return, but there are many plans. There will be a lot to rebuild,” he adds.
