Ukraine has already received the first shells purchased under the Czech initiative, and Prague has announced new deliveries. The supply of ammunition is always noticeable on the battlefield, noted Major of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, deputy commander of the Third Assault Brigade Maxim Zhorin.
On Channel 24, he emphasized that, like most Ukrainian brigades, the Third Assault also lacks shells - primarily artillery. They are not missing, but ammo is limited. And this situation prompted new solutions.
“This, on the other hand, has prompted us to look for alternative ways to destroy the enemy. That is, there are no artillery shells - we will develop FPV drones. We are following this path,” the major explained.
However, alternative means of destroying enemy forces and equipment do not eliminate the need for artillery on the battlefield. Projectiles for artillery systems remain an extremely important issue.
“Their arrival is always noticeable on the battlefield. Both our side and the enemy feel it. It is much easier for infantry and attack aircraft when there is an artillery shell, it is much more difficult for the enemy to hold on and, accordingly, carry out offensive actions when we have enough of them for artillery. The opposite situation , when these shells are not there,” Zhorin emphasized.
The military man added that the consumption of ammunition is now considerable. This is due to a fairly long front line, a large number of brigades, high activity and dynamics in different areas.
Therefore, the shells that Ukraine will receive, unfortunately, are not a panacea. They will allow you to conduct defensive or offensive actions more effectively for some time.
