Russian invaders have “curtailed their appetites” in the north of the Kharkov region. The enemy has abandoned the idea of occupying the regional center, but dreams of coming within gunshot of it. That is why enemy forces persistently attack in the Liptsy area.
The speaker of the operational-tactical group "Kharkov" Vitaly Sarantsev revealed to LIGA.net what the objectives of the Russian operation in the Kharkov region were. Firstly, the Russian Federation wanted to provoke chaos and force Ukrainians to flee the region. Next, the Russians had to approach Kharkov and occupy it, which the city’s proximity to the border should have helped with.
In addition, the enemy wanted to create a so-called “buffer zone” to prevent the Ukrainian Armed Forces from shelling Russian territories, but as a result, according to Sarantsev, part of the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation became such a zone.
The invaders also hoped to earn “extra points” on the eve of the Peace Summit in Switzerland and strengthen their positions in possible negotiation processes.
The speaker added that Volchansk could become for the Russians an exit to the rear of the Defense Forces in the Kupyansk direction, but they are not able to advance there either.
