IAEA experts say that they heard multiple explosions before the fire started on the territory of the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant.
The official statement was published on the page of the International Atomic Energy Agency in the X microblog. It is reported that in the evening their experts "witnessed strong dark smoke coming from the northern zone of the Zaporizhzhya NPP after multiple explosions."
"The team received a message from the Zaporizhzhya NPP about a probable drone attack on one of the cooling towers located on the site. There were no reports of impact on nuclear safety," the agency added.
According to the latest data from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the radiation situation in the country is stable, no excesses have been recorded.
"As of 00:00 on August 12, no changes in the radiation status in the area of the Zaporizhzhya NPP have been detected. No radionuclides of man-made origin indicating a violation of the safe operation of the NPP in Ukraine or transboundary transfer have been recorded," the State Emergency Service Telegram channel says.
