Drones Attacked the Savasleyka Airfield in the Nizhny Novgorod Region: MiGs Take Off from There

This morning, explosions were heard in the Nizhny Novgorod Region of Russia, where the Savasleyka military airfield is located, from where MiG-31 fighters take off.

As reported by Russian media, in the early morning, local residents noticed drones over the settlements of Veletma and Savasleyka. Astra wrote that the Savasleyka military airfield is located near these villages. According to open data, a branch of the 4th State Center for Training Aviation Personnel and Military Testing of the Russian Defense Ministry is stationed there.

Local publics report "10 arrivals" at the Savasleyka military airbase.

Nizhny Novgorod Region Governor Gleb Nikitin confirmed the information about the drone strike, announcing in a telegram the work of air defense and electronic warfare systems "to suppress attacks by aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles."

Savasleyka is approximately 650 km from the Ukrainian border. MiG-31 aircraft, carriers of Kinzhal missiles, are based at this airfield. In Ukraine, air raid sirens are regularly declared during MiG-31 takeoffs from Savasleyka.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported that at night, their air defense forces destroyed 117 UAVs and 4 Tochka-U missiles over Russian regions.

- Voronezh Region — 37 UAVs;

- Belgorod Region — 17 UAVs;

- Nizhny Novgorod Region — 11 UAVs;

- Volgograd region — 9 UAVs;

- Bryansk region — 3 UAVs;

- Oryol region — 2 UAVs;

- Rostov region — 1 UAV.
