On Wednesday, August 14, a plane crash occurred in France. Two Rafale fighter jets crashed.

This was reported on the X social network by French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu. According to him, the incident occurred in the morning on the border between the Vosges and Myorts-et-Moselle mountains.

"An accident involving two Rafales 3/4 Aquitaine Transformation Squadron occurred in Myorts-et-Moselle. One of the pilots has been found, the search for the others is ongoing," the report says.

The L'Est Républicain publication writes that the crash occurred after a mid-air collision on the way back from refueling in Germany at around 12:30 p.m. There were three people in total on these planes - two in the two-seater fighter and one in the single-seater.

One pilot managed to eject before the crash. The injured lieutenant colonel is conscious and was reportedly taken to a hospital in Tula. The other servicemen (a lieutenant and a captain) are currently being sought by emergency services. They are a student pilot and his instructor.

For safety reasons and to protect the secrets of highly sophisticated military equipment, the crash site was isolated. It is noted that a large amount of debris was found in the Colombey-les-Belles forest. An explosion could have occurred after the collision.

Updated 01:40: French President Emmanuel Macron reported that the pilots who were being searched for after the plane crash were killed.

"We learned with sadness of the death of Captain Sebastien Mabire and Lieutenant Matthys Laurens in a Rafale crash during a training mission. The nation shares the grief of their families and brothers in arms at Air Base 113 in Saint-Dizier," he wrote online.
