The military operation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Kursk Oblast has forced Russia to redeploy its troops from the front lines in Ukraine, according to a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW). Several thousand troops have been redeployed so far.

Analysts assume that military action in this area will require Russia to increase its manpower and resources.

The Institute recalled a report by The Wall Street Journal, which indicated that "several" incomplete Russian brigades totaling 5,000 people had been redeployed from Ukraine to Kursk Oblast

These include the Pyatnashka brigades of the pseudo-republic "DPR" and the 200th Motorized Rifle Brigade (14th Army Corps of the Leningrad Military District), which has been fighting near Chasovy Yar in Donetsk Oblast in recent months.

"The WSJ report on 5,000 Russian troops partially coincides with the report that as of August 11, Russian forces had redeployed up to 11 battalions to the front line in the Kursk region," the analysts noted.

The transfer of Russian forces from the Kharkov region is separately mentioned. This concerns soldiers from the Tiger Battalion of the 155th Marine Brigade of the Russian Federation.
