The United States of America has seen signs that Russia has transferred a small number of its military forces to the Kursk region to respond to the Ukrainian offensive.
This was reported during a briefing by the press secretary of the US Department of Defense, Major General Pat Ryder. "I would say that overall, Russia is struggling to respond. And you continue to see some successes from Ukraine. But again, I refer you to Ukraine to talk about their operations, and to Russia to talk about their own forces," he told reporters.
The spokesman also declined to answer a question about whether Kyiv had asked Washington for weapons systems and other assistance. "As I mentioned, in September we will be holding the Ukrainian Defense Contact Group. This is always an opportunity to meet with our allies and partners and discuss Ukraine's most pressing defense needs," Ryder added.
