The ban on the UOC-MP in Ukraine is in the spotlight. The head of the information and educational department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Kliment, commented on the corresponding decision of the parliament - he claims that the law adopted by the Verkhovna Rada allegedly focuses on church property, and therefore "the situation resembles historical parallels with the communist past."
In a commentary to hromadske, the metropolitan said that the law "maybe bans the UOC-MP," but the Ukrainian Orthodox Church does not have the prefix MP, and it "will continue to live as a true church."
It is worth noting that the law adopted by the Verkhovna Rada concerns religious organizations affiliated with foreign centers. The UOC claims that they have no such connections, and such accusations are “manipulative” since there is allegedly not a single Ukrainian document that could confirm this.
