Vice President of the United States Kamala Harris has been officially approved as the Democratic Party's candidate for president following the results of the vote.
This happened at the political party's convention in Chicago, CNN reports.
More than 4,000 delegates took part in the event.
Harris was not at the convention itself. She was holding a campaign meeting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and joined via video link.
"We are honored to be your nominees... This is a people-powered campaign, and together we will forge a new path forward," she said, thanking the delegates for their nomination.
It is worth noting that in early August, Harris had already received the support of the majority during a virtual vote. They decided to repeat the procedure in a ceremonial setting.
