Telegram founder Pavel Durov was arrested by police at Le Bourget airport in Paris on Saturday evening after arriving from Azerbaijan. This could have happened because of his girlfriend, who "burned" his geolocation and plans to fly to France.
According to the Daily Mail, Durov was arrested as soon as he got off his private jet. He was accused of failing to moderate illegal content and failing to cooperate with law enforcement in an investigation into drug trafficking, child pornography and fraud.
However, there is talk that there was a girl on board - Russian Yulia Vavilova, who is said to be Durov's lover. The 24-year-old Russian blonde lives in Dubai and accompanied him on a whirlwind tour of former Soviet republics, including Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, as well as Azerbaijan.
The girl posted all the geolocations on Instagram and effectively alerted the French authorities to Durov’s arrival in Paris. The police were left to wait for him to land.
“This led conspiracy theorists to speculate that Vavilova is a Mossad agent on a honey trap mission to deliver him to Western intelligence agencies,” the publication writes.
After all, gaining access to Telegram for law enforcement would allow them to obtain information that could prove invaluable in tracking down criminals from terrorists to petty thieves.
