A 120-year dry spell ended this week in Cardston, Canada, when the town legally served its first alcoholic beverages.
According to The Washington Times, prohibition was lifted last year by a 5-2 vote by the city council, allowing local establishments to issue liquor licenses. After months of preparation, High 5 in Cardston became the first to serve the spirit.
"It's a little overwhelming and a little nerve-wracking... We're excited to offer something to the community that hasn't been there before," said co-owner Richard Beaulieu.
Liquor licenses are reportedly available for restaurants and a local golf course, but local laws still prohibit bars, clubs and liquor stores from operating in the city.
