Chasov Yar under fire damage: the military told what is happening in the city now

Today, the city of Chasov Yar in Donetsk Oblast is under fire damage from Russian occupiers, but the enemy does not control the settlement with its shelling. This was stated on the air of "Espresso" by Oleg Kalashnikov, press officer of the 26th artillery brigade named after General-Khorunzhy Roman Dashkevich.
According to him, the defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is taking place along the Seversky Donetsk-Donbass canal and our defenders are holding these lines. The invaders cannot cross them anywhere or create a bridgehead.
"It should also be noted that the former settlements that they destroyed - Kleshcheyevka and Andreyevka - are also holding out. That is, they were unable to outflank Chasov Yar, as the invaders wanted in the first place, so they are storming it head-on with significant losses. The Russians have had no achievements in this direction for a certain period of time," the military man said.
He recalled that before the escalation in the Pokrovsky and Toretsky directions, Chasov Yar was the most active point on the front. The enemy hoped to break through the defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near this city and enter the flank of the Pokrovsky direction, but they did not succeed. Kalashnikov explained why Chasov Yar is important in operational and tactical terms on the Eastern Front.
Firstly, this settlement is located on a ridge that dominates the surrounding territory. The city is located on a hill, which allows you to control the lowland. Thanks to this. when the Russians began their assaults, the Ukrainian Armed Forces found it convenient to fire at the enemy from above.
"Today, Chasov Yar is a fortress that covers an agglomeration of cities - Kramatorsk, Slavyansk, Druzhkovka, Konstantinovka. In addition, our logistics routes are controlled from this hill. Today, the northern flank of the Pokrovsk direction is also covered from here; we do not allow the enemy to enter and strike through us. That is, the significance of Chasov Yar is multifaceted; this town is small, but quite important in operational and tactical terms on this section of the front," the military man explained.
