A Russian contract soldier who was captured by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Kursk region spoke to Ukrainian journalists.

Alexander Uchaikin told News.LIVE that he signed a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense at the end of June this year. He calls it a "forced measure" because he owed more than 1 million rubles and thus tried to stop the seizure of his property.

The occupier was promised a job as a driver in the rear, but after several weeks of training he was thrown to the front line. On August 6, Ukrainian troops launched an offensive in Kursk region. Russian soldiers, including Uchaikin, began to retreat from the border. They reached the settlement designated by the command, but Ukrainian troops were already there.

"Our troops did not hold the border. I am happy to be alive. I can't say anything, I am not strong in politics... They treated us normally, there was no mockery or abuse. Well, how they take people prisoner - shouting, noise, but without assault," he added.

The invader says that he has not met any Nazis in Ukraine, and explains the offensive on the Kursk region by the fact that Ukrainians "are tired of being pressured from all sides." According to Uchaikin, many of his friends died in the war against Ukraine, others were seriously wounded.

When asked what he could say to a person who promised him service in the rear, the occupier answered: "What can I tell him? He also gets his salary. He was deceived, he deceived me. It's just a chain. What can I tell him, he was also deceived, he earns his penny, feeds his family."
