This summer in Kyiv was the second hottest in history after 2010

The summer took the second place after the summer of 2010 (23.7 degrees) among the warmest in the capital since 1881. During the summer, 18 temperature records were set, 14 of them in July, the rest - in August.

The largest positive deviation from the climatic norm was in July (3.0 degrees).

The coldest was August 14, when the temperature in the morning dropped to 13.4 degrees Celsius, and the hottest and record-breaking was July 16, when the temperature in the afternoon rose to 36.0 degrees Celsius.

The amount of precipitation over the summer on Nauki Avenue was 211 mm, or 107% of the average long-term indicators. The largest amount of them fell in June - almost two monthly norms.

Recall that the average monthly air temperature in August 2024 in Kyiv was 23.1 degrees Celsius, 2.7 degrees above the climatic norm. In the ranking of the warmest, August 2024 took third place.

July 2024 was among the five hottest in the history of Kyiv. The average monthly air temperature in July in Kyiv was 24.3 degrees Celsius, which is 3.0 degrees above the climatic norm.

In mid-July, hot weather set in Ukraine, caused by warm air from Africa, entering Ukraine through the Balkans. Temperature records in Kyiv were updated for a week in a row.

According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, the uniqueness of the current heat in Ukraine is that it came in mid-July, while in previous years the maximum temperatures were observed in early August. In 2010, the hottest period was in late July – early August.
