September in Kyiv started with abnormal heat

A new temperature record was recorded in Kyiv in early September. This was reported by the Boris Sreznevsky Central Geophysical Observatory.

According to the weather station. On September 3, the average daily air temperature in the capital reached 24.5℃. This exceeded the previous record for this day in 2015 by 0.6℃.

According to weather forecasters, the climatic norm was exceeded by 7.2℃.

Meteorologists summed up the weather in the summer of 2024 in Kyiv, noting that this summer was one of the warmest in all of observations.

According to the weather station of the Boris Sreznevsky Central Geophysical Observatory, the average air temperature this summer in Kyiv was +23ºС. This exceeded the climatic norm by 2.6ºС, which ensured the second place after the record summer of 2010 (23.7℃) among the warmest since 1881.

July demonstrated the largest positive deviation from the norm, which was 3.0℃.

The coldest day in Kyiv, according to forecasters, was August 14, when the temperature in the morning dropped to +13.4°С, and the hottest was July 16, when thermometers showed a record +36.0°С.

A total of 18 temperature records were recorded during the summer: 14 in July and the rest - in August.

During the three summer months, 211 mm of precipitation fell, which is 107% of the average long-term norm. The largest amount of precipitation was observed in June - its amount almost twice exceeded the monthly norm.
