Western countries should "untie the hands" of Ukraine and allow the Ukrainian Armed Forces to use long-range missiles against targets in Russia. This was stated by the Chief of the General Staff of the Czech Republic Karel Řehka, Radio Prague International reports.
According to him, otherwise Ukraine will not have a chance to effectively defend itself.
"These restrictions must be lifted because it is legal and legitimate for Ukrainians to defend themselves, even when attacking Russian territory, because they cannot box with one hand tied behind their back," Řehka said.
According to the Chief of the General Staff of the Czech Republic, due to Western restrictions, Russia has a significant advantage. Russian planes take off from airfields within the range of Western weapons, but Ukrainians are prohibited from using them.
"And these planes then bomb civilian infrastructure, not just soldiers. Therefore, it would be absolutely legitimate if the Ukrainians were able to attack Russian territory," the general emphasized.
According to him, the Ukrainian operation in the Kursk region showed that there is no need to fear threats of escalation from Russia.
"The Russians are still "clanging" with nuclear weapons, but when the Ukrainians invaded and captured the entire district, nothing happened," he concluded.
