4,123,875 people who left Ukraine as a result of the war are enjoying temporary protection in the EU countries. This is evidenced by the latest Eurostat data as of July 31, 2024.
The largest number of people with temporary protection are in the following countries:
Germany (1,110,600 people; 26.9% of the total in the EU);
Poland (976,205; 23.7%);
Czech Republic (369,610; 9.0%).
In July, Ukrainians actively traveled to obtain temporary protection in the following countries:
Poland (+10,430; +1.1%);
Czech Republic (+8,834; +2.4%);
Romania (+4250; +2.6%).
However, in two countries the number of Ukrainians with temporary protection decreased:
France (-470; -0.8%);
Luxembourg (-470; -11.0%)
Germany accepts the largest number of Ukrainians every month, however, according to Eurostat, in July the number of refugees from Ukraine decreased by 236,925 people (-17.6%). This is due to the fact that the country removed from the registered number of people with temporary protection those whose status became invalid. This was due to the fact that Ukrainians received either another protection status or left Germany.
By the end of July, Ukrainian citizens accounted for more than 98% of people with temporary protection status in the EU. Adult women with protection status - 45.3%, children - 32.4%, adult men - 22.4%.
Recall that we wrote about which countries changed the rules for Ukrainian refugees. Governments have reduced payments and introduced new conditions.
We also reported that the Czech Republic will tighten control over Ukrainian refugees. They will check whether Ukrainians live at the indicated place of residence.
