During an operation in the Black Sea, soldiers of the special forces of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine destroyed a Russian Su-30SM combat aircraft with a hit from a MANPADS. This was reported by the press service of the GUR.

It is noted that the fighter jet that fell into the sea belonged to the 43rd separate naval aviation regiment of the Russian Aerospace Forces, which is based at the airfield of the city of Saki in the temporarily occupied Crimea.

"The occupiers lost contact with their combat aircraft on September 11, 2024, at about 5 a.m. Approximately three hours later, the Russians began a search and rescue operation involving an An-26 aircraft, as well as Mi-8 and Ka-27 helicopters. At lunchtime, the occupiers reported to the command about a characteristic stain of aviation fuel discovered in the sea, 70 kilometers northwest of Cape Tarkhankut, and soon they saw the wreckage of the destroyed Su-30SM," the report says.

The GUR added that the cost of such an aircraft is approximately 50 million dollars.
