The destruction of the Russian A-50 airborne early warning aircraft in Taganrog was one of the biggest losses for the Russian Federation in the war against Ukraine. The "Come Back Alive" foundation revealed new details of the destruction of this aircraft.
"A-50 in Taganrog, SU-57, and Putin's pride - the Voronezh radar. They all have one thing in common: the last thing they saw before they went down was beavers," the report says.
It is noted that this refers to the UJ-26 "Beaver" kamikaze drones. The Ukrainian military has repeatedly used them to destroy enemy targets. In the skillful hands of Ukrainian intelligence officers, these UAVs have been successfully "harassing" the enemy on its own territory for over a year.
The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Kirill Budanov, emphasized that we are in an open conventional war, so Ukraine has to participate "in absolutely combined arms combat operations."
"This has made a revolution in the approaches to conducting combat operations in general. There were strike UAVs, reconnaissance systems, purely strike, operational-tactical level, which carry missile weapons. But no one has used UAVs in the form of kamikaze drones on such a large scale and no one has even considered such a possibility before our war,” he said. At the same time, Budanov noted that Ukraine used kamikaze drones of its own production in an expert manner back in 2021 – before the new stage of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
