There is a war going on in Ukraine, and the new Ukrainian drone "Dragon" can be tried to be used in a new format - as a tool for counter-battery warfare.
The usual format for using "Dragons" - the rapid destruction of enemy infantry, up to a certain point could also look like an experiment with unreliable results, according to the Defense Express article.
"You can... try to use these flamethrower UAVs as a tool for counter-battery warfare... the very fact of burning incendiary mixture on the armor of a self-propelled artillery unit (2S1 "Gvozdika", - Ed.) can make the crew completely incapable of combat, even without formal damage to the vehicle itself," the journalists shared.
The article notes that such a conclusion can be drawn from the experiment described by the specialized resource btvt-2019. The essence of the experiment was that the Gvozdika was doused with napalm and the consequences were determined.
"...if the filter-ventilation devices were turned on, then, for example, under the condition of the combustion of the fire mixture for 3 minutes 20 seconds, the air temperature at the workplaces in the fighting compartment increased from 14 to 24 degrees, at the workplace of the driver-mechanic - from 16 to 38 degrees," the article says.
In addition, smoke appeared in the fighting compartment, which provoked tearing and coughing. The journalists added that the crew members need to turn on the filter-ventilation devices under such conditions. "...if the filter-ventilation devices were turned on directly during the combustion of the mixture, then they failed literally in 1 minute of work in such conditions," the article emphasizes.
