The fighting for Ugledar in the Donetsk region has been going on since November 2022; the city has been destroyed by the occupiers' strikes. The infrastructure has been reduced to rubble for almost a year after the shelling.

The locals started leaving a long time ago; about 100 people remained there, said Ivan Timochko, Chairman of the Council of Reservists of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on the air of the telethon.

The military man emphasized that the Russians failed to encircle Ugledar, despite the fact that both Western media and Ukrainian experts wrote about it. The fighters withstood the blow as much as they could.

"When leaving the city, it was already a ruined city, just like Bakhmut and Avdiivka in their time. Having entered the city, the enemy will try to form a bridgehead and accumulate forces, because it is located at a height. But these would be advantages if the enemy could occupy industrial facilities and if they took up defensive positions, and we would have to storm," Timochko explained.
