Israel may launch a "symbolic" attack on Iran's nuclear facilities. This was stated by former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, The Guardian reports.
The politician also predicts that Israel will likely launch a large-scale airstrike on Iran's oil industry. At the same time, Barak has no doubts about Israel's response to Tehran's recent missile attack:
"Israel has an urgent need, even an imperative, to respond. I think no sovereign state on Earth could fail to respond. ... This could be a massive attack, and it could be repeated later."
Barak believes that a massive Israeli military response to Iran's attack is now inevitable and justified, while the outbreak of a regional war could have been prevented much earlier if current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had been open to the Arab unification plan proposed by the United States. "I think a strong response is inevitable. It doesn't mean that it was written in the sky a year ago that this would happen. There were probably several opportunities to limit this conflict before it turned into something like a full-scale clash in the Middle East. For reasons that cannot be explained by any strategic idea, Netanyahu rejected any discussion," Barak concluded.
