The US military did not take part in the Israeli operation to eliminate the new Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.
This was stated by the Pentagon, Reuters reports. However, they clarified that US intelligence informed Israel about the location of Hamas leaders. "This was an Israeli operation. The US military was not directly involved," said Pentagon spokesman Air Force Major General Patrick Ryder.
"The US helped provide information and intelligence regarding the release of hostages and tracking of Hamas leaders who are responsible for the hostages. This contributes to the understanding of the situation," Ryder noted.
"But, again, this was an Israeli operation. We need to contact them for details about how the operation went," the Pentagon representative added.
