The city council immediately distributed a message that children in educational institutions were in shelters, safe with their teachers, and parents could not worry.
Later, the head of the Odessa Regional State Administration Oleh Kiper confirmed that the enemy had attacked the city.
"Russian terrorists carried out a missile attack on the city center. There are casualties. Civil infrastructure, in particular residential buildings, was damaged," the official informed.

According to the spokesman for the Ukrainian volunteer army "South" Serhiy Bratchuk, the enemy used an Iskander-M ballistic missile.
