During active combat operations at the front, "friendly fire" against UAVs occurs, since it is sometimes difficult for Ukrainian infantrymen to immediately determine whose drone is hovering over them.
This was reported on air by junior sergeant, serviceman of the 79th separate Tavricheskaya airborne assault brigade Alexander Sokolenko (call sign "Blogger"). According to him, there are cases when drones are lost due to "friendly fire", but they are simply expendable compared to human life:
"Infantry are titans. Please sit for a week in a damp pit, when you are being drenched by rain and mines. Of course, in such a state a person can shoot down a drone. And it is not a problem. We have few infantrymen, and you can buy a drone. There used to be a lot of "friendly fire", now there is less. Because there is some interaction and coordination."
According to the military man, the Russians have "the most powerful electronic warfare in the world". Ukrainian defenders have so far managed to bypass the Russian electronic warfare system, but it is becoming increasingly difficult to do so. In his opinion, there is currently a lack of research and innovation in this area - the occupiers "strangle" new means and copy technologies used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The Ukrainian soldier added that during the period when we have new technology and frequencies, the consumption of drones is about 50%. "50% fly and hit. When the Russians have worked on their electronic warfare, it happens that our losses due to undershooting are 90%. But it is still very effective work. If one drone for 400 dollars flies, it can still stop an infantry fighting vehicle, a tank," the fighter added.
Separately, Sokolenko expressed gratitude to all the volunteers and Ukrainians who believed in the drone topic from the very beginning and joined the collection:
"I am sure that thanks to this we have a state today, we have such a line of defense that we can fight. Thank you to everyone who helps. And we are knocking down the evil spirits."
