Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov has arrived in Pyongyang for talks with North Korean officials. This could lead to the development of military cooperation between the countries, Bloomberg reports.
"During the official visit, the Russian Defense Minister is scheduled to meet with the military and military-political leadership of the DPRK," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement, the agency notes.
Journalists emphasized that the visit of the Russian Defense Minister took place shortly after Russian dictator Vladimir Putin threatened to strike "decision-making centers" in Kyiv with new ballistic missiles. In addition, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov recently arrived in South Korea with a Ukrainian delegation to meet with President Yun Suk-yol, National Security Advisor Shin Won-sik, and Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun.
According to journalists, the Ukrainian delegation discussed with Seoul representatives the issue of arms supplies to Ukraine. The parties also discussed sending North Korean troops to Russia.
On Friday, South Korea scrambled fighter jets after five military aircraft from China and six from Russia entered the air identification zone controlled by Seoul, the agency shared. In this area, aircraft are required to identify themselves when approaching it.
