On November 18, during a ceremony that took place on the territory of the aircraft plant in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, the first two Su-35 aircraft (Su-35SE) were officially transferred to Iran. This was reported by the German publication Flug Revue, dedicated to aerospace topics.

After the transfer, the fighters were delivered in disassembled form using an An-124 transport aircraft to Mehrabad Airport in Tehran, from where they were to be delivered to the air base of the Islamic Republic Air Force in Hamadan.

According to Flug Revue, at first it was planned to order 25 fighters to replace part of the F-14 at the Iranian Air Force air base in Isfahan, but then the order for Su-35 was increased to 50 aircraft. Now it is assumed that they will replace the very old F-4s at the Hamadan base.

It is worth noting that rumors about the transfer of the first Su-35s to Iran have been circulating for quite some time, but no evidence of this has been presented. It was also reported that in addition to the Su-35, Moscow will transfer Mi-28 attack helicopters and Yak-130 training aircraft to Tehran.
