Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on the introduction of sanctions against part of the Georgian authorities. The head of state announced this in a video address.

"I just signed a decree that gives force to the decision of the National Security and Defense Council on sanctions. These are sanctions against that part of the government in Georgia that is now surrendering Georgia to Putin. This is precisely what the protests in Georgia are against," he said.

According to Zelensky, it is important that partners also now talk about their position, honestly state what is happening.

"And we must act. This happens in international affairs: if you do not react in time or if you do not react in a principled way, then what follows are lost decades, and countries are deprived of their freedom. We cannot lose anyone in this region - neither Georgia, nor Moldova, nor Ukraine. Together we must defend ourselves against Moscow. Ukraine has imposed sanctions against Ivanishvili and his accomplices - 19 people. These are the ones who are selling out the interests of Georgia and the people. And we call on Europe, America, everyone in the world to do the same - to act in a principled way," Zelensky emphasized.

In particular, the sanctions list includes: the founder of the Georgian Dream, oligarch Bidzin Ivanishvili, the head of government Giorgi Kobakhidkhe, the mayor of Tbilisi Kakha Kaladze (formerly a football player for Dynamo Kyiv), the head of the State Security Service Grigol Liluashvili, the executive secretary of the Georgian Dream Mamuka Mdinaradze, the Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri, and the owner of the pro-government TV channel Imedi Irakli Rukhadze.
