In Ukraine, sole proprietors are closing en masse: MP explains what is really happening

The number of new sole proprietors has increased significantly since the beginning of the year. Over the past two months, the number of newly created sole proprietors has increased by 7 thousand compared to closed ones.
MP Danylo Getmantsev wrote about this in his Telegram, commenting on the news about the mass closure of sole proprietors allegedly due to tax increases since December.
"Regarding the news about thousands of sole proprietors that closed as a result of the adoption of the resource law on army financing. Over the 11 months of 2024, the number of new taxpayers, sole proprietors, has increased significantly," he wrote.
According to the MP, as of December 1, the number of sole proprietors is 2.077 million, of which 272.9 thousand were registered this year, which is 83.6 thousand more than at the beginning of the year.
Getmantsev noted that the growth rate of newly created sole proprietors exceeds the rate of terminated ones by almost 92 thousand people. And over the past 2 months, the number of newly created sole proprietors has increased by 7 thousand compared to terminated ones, or amounted to 47.7 thousand taxpayers against 40.7 thousand terminated sole proprietors.
"These figures do not indicate either economic growth or a decline in the number of entrepreneurs. After all, unfortunately, the single tax institution has become an instrument not for the development of entrepreneurship, but for tax evasion by large and medium-sized businesses," the deputy noted.
