The tanker Cordelia Moon with Russian oil broke down in the Bosphorus. According to the expert, this vessel is from the so-called "shadow fleet" that has been transporting oil from the ports of the Black and Baltic Seas since 2022.
"I am saying that the events of recent days are already a Sign, and not some kind of "hazelnut and hawthorn," said the head of the Institute for Black Sea Strategic Studies Andrei Klimenko.
According to him, the 274-meter-long tanker Cordelia Moon under the flag of Panama broke down in the Bosphorus. The vessel was heading from the Turkish port of Yalova to Novorossiysk, which led to a complete cessation of traffic in both directions.
"This is our old defendant. "It has been transporting Russian oil from the ports of the Black and Baltic Seas since 2022 under different names," the expert emphasizes.
As Reuters writes with reference to Tribeca, the tanker Cordelia Moon, which was heading to Russia, stopped on December 26 due to an engine breakdown in the Yenikoy area. A vessel was sent to the scene to provide assistance.
"During the route from Yalova to the Russian Federation, the 274-meter engine broke down. Tugboats secured the vessel with cables, ensuring its safety," the Turkish Ministry of Transport reported.
It is said that the movement of ships to the south in the Bosphorus Strait in Turkey was promised to be restored yesterday evening.
According to open sources, the Cordelia Moon, built in 2006, appears in Lloyd's List reports as a link in the Kremlin's shadow fleet - one of the ships that are used to circumvent sanctions imposed on Russian oil.
