Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said whether he is going to run for a second term. According to him, this is a rather difficult question, and everything depends on several factors at once.

He stated this in an interview with American podcaster Lex Friedman.

"I don't really know. It's a very difficult question. It depends on how the war ends... It mainly depends on the people, first of all, and of course on my family. We haven't even had the opportunity to discuss it, because we are not thinking about it now," Zelensky said.

The President emphasized that he has not yet thought about whether to run for a second term because of the war. He noted that for now it is worth thinking about what is happening now.

Friedman asked Zelensky what he thought about possible candidates for the post of President of Ukraine: former President Petro Poroshenko, after Ukraine in Great Britain Valeriy Zaluzhny, former freelance adviser to the OP Oleksiy Arestovych, Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense Kirill Budanov and Mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko.

"I think there may be even more candidates. We don't really know what will happen. They have the right to run if they want. The most important thing is what they do now. It is important that they do everything in their power today, and not start election campaigns," Zelensky said.

The President is confident that holding elections during a war could lead to a split among Ukrainians. He emphasized that he disagrees with some politicians on this issue.

Friedman also decided to find out whether Zelensky is confident in his victory if debates with other candidates take place.

"I am focused on the war. I believe the most difficult debates will take place at the negotiating table. That is my goal," he replied.
