King Frederik X of Denmark has changed the royal coat of arms amid the scandalous statements made by the newly elected President of the United States of America Donald Trump about Greenland.
According to The Guardian, some historians were shocked by this decision. For 500 years, the coats of arms depicted three crowns - a symbol of the Kalmar Union between Denmark, Norway and Sweden. In the new version, they were replaced with images of a polar bear and a ram, which symbolize Greenland and the Faroe Islands.
The Royal House explained the decision by "strengthening the authority of the commonwealth", calling the image of three crowns "no longer relevant".
