Canada has allocated 440 million Canadian dollars (over $305 million) in military aid to Ukraine. This statement was made by the country's Minister of National Defense Bill Blair at a meeting in the Rammstein format on January 9.
Of this amount, 200 million Canadian dollars will be allocated to the Czech Republic's initiative to purchase and deliver large-caliber ammunition to Ukraine, in addition to the 53 million Canadian dollars already allocated.
Another 100 million Canadian dollars will go to support the production of military drones by the Ukrainian defense industry according to the "Danish model".
30 million Canadian dollars were spent on winter equipment, in particular sleeping bags, winter boots and thermal underwear. Another 64 million Canadian dollars are for "high-resolution unmanned cameras" that were delivered to Ukraine in November and December 2024.
The announced aid is part of packages that were previously announced - at the 2024 NATO summit and in the Canadian budget for 2024.
The total cost of Canada's military aid to Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion has reached 4.5 billion Canadian dollars (about 2.9 billion US dollars).
