US President-elect Donald Trump has again publicly promised to end the war in Ukraine and said that he will contact Russian dictator Putin immediately after taking office.

According to him, he will agree to a meeting with the Kremlin ruler. According to CNN, he made such statements at a rally in Washington. "I will end the war in Ukraine, the chaos in the Middle East. I will prevent World War III," Trump said.

In addition, as the publication's sources added, "Trump instructed his aides to call Putin immediately after the inauguration to discuss their meeting in the coming months to end the war in Ukraine."

The publication recalled that during the election campaign, Trump promised to end the Russian war against Ukraine in 24 hours. "But on the eve of his inauguration, there is little to indicate that... the war is nearing an end. So he will probably break that promise," the publication stated.

However, the journalists detailed that instead, Trump and his team intend to start working as quickly as possible on a peace plan that can be implemented in the first months of his presidency. This plan also includes a personal meeting with Putin.

The publication noted that the talks between Trump and Putin would represent "a sharp departure from the approach of President Joe Biden," who has not spoken to Putin in almost three years. "Trump sees things differently. His view... is that direct engagement with Putin is exactly what is needed to find a solution that will end the war," the publication commented.

In addition, the publication noted that it is currently unknown whether Trump plans to continue the existing strategy of providing Ukraine with weapons and intelligence. He also did not announce what security guarantees for Kyiv he might agree to.
