In the Kursk region, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have launched a new wave of mechanized assaults and advanced into the rear of the Russians to the southeast of Sudzha.
This is stated in a fresh report by analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW). "Ukrainian forces took up positions southwest of Makhnovka and north and east of Cherkasskaya Konopelka along the 38K-028 Sudzha-Oboyan highway and took Kolmakov and Fanaseyevka," the report states.
The analysts detailed that the Ukrainian forces were approximately a battalion in size and advanced 5 km. The review cites data from Russian war correspondents, who stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked using 30-50 armored vehicles.
ISW noted that the Russian Federation is concerned about the advancement of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as this could threaten the rear areas of the Russian group south of Sudzha and hinder the ability of the Russians to block Ukrainian land lines of communication.
Analysts noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces' assault operations in the Kursk region continue, which creates additional pressure on the Russian units stationed on the border with Ukraine.
