Ukrainian defenders shot down a guided aerial bomb (KAB). This was reported by military correspondent Andriy Tsaplienko, citing sources in the Defense Forces.
According to the journalist, the enemy bomb was shot down in the suburbs of Zaporizhia.
"According to preliminary data, this is an experimental weapon," Tsaplienko noted.
The Ukrainian Air Force confirmed the shooting down of a guided aerial bomb in Zaporizhia, but noted that this is not the first time this has happened, which Andriy Tsaplienko emphasized in his message.
"This is not the first time that such a type of air attack weapon as a KAB has been shot down. Combat work is underway on various targets - missiles, drones, including KABs. Because KABs come in different types," noted Yuriy Ignat, Head of the Communications Department of the Ukrainian Air Force Command.
At the same time, he emphasized that a comprehensive approach is needed to counter the enemy's use of KABs, rather than fighting the munitions themselves.
"We need to counter the enemy's tactical aviation, which actually produces these KABs. In 2024 alone, the enemy has fired up to 40,000 guided aerial bombs at Ukraine. The Air Force is now actively implementing a comprehensive approach to countering the use of KABs by enemy tactical aviation. Various countermeasures are being used," Ignat added.
