US President Donald Trump had previously negotiated rare earth metals with another country - Afghanistan. However, when the government in Kabul agreed to such cooperation, the US surrendered the country to the Taliban.
Vladislav Olenchenko, co-founder of the Mikhailovsky Club analytical platform, spoke about this on the air of the Moseychuk Podcast project. "I want to recall 2017, when Trump was in his first term and a meeting with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani took place in New York. Where they stated that the American geodetic service had conducted research and discovered a lot of minerals in Afghanistan, and rare earth metals in particular. Trump said that American companies should have access to these minerals. The amount of a trillion dollars was mentioned," the expert recalls.
However, when the official government of Afghanistan agreed to the proposal, Washington turned to the Taliban. With whom, Olenchenko noted, it had been fighting for 16 years at that time:
"But after the President of the Republic of Afghanistan said that he was ready to develop minerals, Trump entered into secret negotiations with the Taliban. After 8 rounds of these negotiations, he signed an agreement with them, according to which he gave Afghanistan to the Taliban. This technology was already implemented by Trump in relation to Afghanistan."
Recall that the United States invaded Afghanistan in 2001, in response to the 9/11 terrorist attack. The Taliban, who then ruled Afghanistan for the first time, were accused by the Americans of collaborating with Al-Qaeda and sheltering Osama bin Laden.
