US President Donald Trump said that he had received a letter from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in which the Ukrainian leader confirmed his readiness to sign an agreement on mineral resources. He also noted that he had received "very strong signals that Russia is ready for peace."

Trump said this on March 4 in his speech to Congress.

Speaking about Russia's war with Ukraine, the US President again recalled that "millions of Ukrainians and Russians" had died and that the US had given "hundreds of billions of dollars" to the war.

"2,000 people were killed every week. These are Russian young people, Ukrainian young people. I want this to stop. Meanwhile, Europe has spent more money on Russian oil and gas than it has on defending Ukraine," Trump stressed.

He specified that the United States spent $350 billion, and Europe - $100 billion. The US President said that he had received an "important letter" from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which stated Ukraine's readiness "to work under the strong leadership of President Trump to achieve lasting peace."

Also, according to Trump, in the letter, Zelensky said that Ukraine was ready to sign an agreement on minerals "at any time convenient for you."

"I am grateful for this letter. I have received very strong signals that Russia is ready for peace. Isn't that wonderful! ... It's time to stop this madness, these murders," the American leader said.
