Russian invaders are burning settlements in the Lugansk region in order to gain a foothold in the occupied territory.
Serhiy Gaidai, head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, wrote about this on his Telegram channel.
"In order to gain a foothold in the Luhansk region, the Russians brutally burn down settlements that do not submit. By breaking several streets at once, the invaders improve their tactical position for attacking the cities of the Donetsk region," he said.
Gaidai recalled that yesterday the occupiers fired four rockets at settlements, organized two massive artillery attacks and used mortars twice more.
According to him, the invaders leave only ashes from both large cities and very small settlements. "Or what they did with Vrubovka when it was necessary to break through to Lisichansk faster. Or with Novotoshkovsky, where only 10 people from the local population remained, back in April. The Russian army does not care what will happen in the village or city tomorrow, what they cripple the lives of even those who have been waiting for them all these years," wrote the head of the Lugansk OVA.
He also noted that the invaders do not need people, they "need a referendum, no matter how many residents they kill and leave without a roof over their heads."
According to him, four assaults by the Russians have been repulsed over the past day, and fighting is still going on in the fifth direction. "Dozens of settlements were shelled from multiple rocket launchers and cannon artillery. The enemy used aircraft in eight of them," Gaidai said.
