The speaker of the operational command "Pivden" Vladislav Nazarov announced this in a summary for the day, August 17.
"The situation in our operational zone is complex and tense, but controlled. The enemy, on his well-equipped defense lines, does not have significant changes in numbers, and is losing morale every day," he said.
According to Nazarov, over the past day, an enemy motorized rifle platoon, supported by a multiple launch rocket system, tried to covertly seize our observation post, but the Ukrainian military opened fire against the invaders, which stopped them and forced them to flee.
"He continued the practice of air strikes on our positions along the line of contact. He attacked three times. He had no success. He used 2 anti-radar missiles to destroy our air defense system. The result was unfortunate," the command spokesman said.
He added that Ukrainian aviation attacked strongholds and areas of concentration of enemy forces, weapons and equipment near Novovoznesensky and Aleksandrovka.
"As part of the performance of fire missions by rocket and artillery units, the enemy lost 29 rashists, a 203-caliber Pion self-propelled gun, 5 armored and automotive vehicles, as well as the supply of ammunition in Belogorka. The final losses of the enemy are being reconnoitered," Nazarov specified.
