The new US military assistance package contains a large number of artillery components and pays close attention to both increasing the reconnaissance capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine through UAVs, and means of combating them.

This was told by the military-political observer of the Information Resistance group Alexander Kovalenko

According to him, in particular, the United States will transfer to Ukraine 245,000 155-mm artillery ammunition and 65,000 120-mm mortar rounds, and this is the largest number of shells transferred to Ukraine within the framework of one package in the entire history of cooperation with the United States.

In addition, Ukraine should receive 24 counter-battery radars, which have always been relevant for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and now more than ever.

"Increasing the effectiveness of the artillery component today is very important not only in matters of suppressing enemy positions, but also in preparing a bridgehead for a counteroffensive," Kovalenko said.

The United States will also transfer reconnaissance UAVs AeroVironment RQ-20 Puma and Scan Eagle drones to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"AeroVironment RQ-20 Puma is a short-range reconnaissance UAV used by the US Army since 2007. It has a large number of modifications with slightly different functional purposes. It would be interesting what type or types will or will be supplied to the APU, from which it was possible "I would suggest the direction of their application, but so far this information is closed. Another UAV and equipment for them is the Scan Eagle, with a ceiling of up to 6 km and a flight range of 100 km. That is, we are talking about reconnaissance in the near zone," the expert said .

The new assistance package also includes L3Harris VAMPIRE devices - ground-based anti-UAV systems equipped with 70-mm APKWS anti-aircraft guided missiles with a laser guidance system.

"APKWS missiles use distributed aperture semi-active laser homing (DASALS) technology. This system allows you to place a laser homing head on the leading edge of each forward rail, synchronizing them. In addition, APKWS missiles use proximity fuses, which allow you to intercept UAVs with greater efficiency, and thanks to the laser-guided missile, which is activated at launch, does not require target acquisition before firing," the expert added.
