Biden approves new $675 million military aid package for Ukraine

The United States approved the allocation of additional military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of $675 million after a meeting between the heads of the defense departments of the two countries.

U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that President Joe Biden approved the allocation of additional weapons to Ukraine for a designated amount, Devdiscourse reports.

According to Austin, at a meeting with Ukrainian Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov, the issue of further support for Kyiv in resisting the Russian invasion was discussed.

As Austin clarified, the administration of US President Joe Biden has decided for the twentieth time to withdraw weapons and equipment from the stocks of the US Department of Defense for transfer to Ukraine.

Austin noted that the new aid package provides for the transfer to Ukraine of more GMLRS projectiles for HIMARS, which can hit targets at a distance of up to 80 km.

The new package will also include 105mm howitzers, artillery shells, high-velocity anti-radar missiles, Humvees, armored ambulances, anti-tank systems, small arms and other assistance.

The allocation of assistance from the United States was also confirmed by the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak.

"The United States will provide Ukraine with a new package of" military assistance "for $675 million, the Pentagon reports. Thanks to the allies," Yermak wrote on his Telegram channel.
