The UK will provide Ukraine with missiles for the NASAMS air defense system, which will be capable of shooting down cruise missiles.
This was stated by British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace regarding the participation in the meeting of the heads of defense departments of NATO member countries in Brussels, reports Reuters.
In particular, as Wallace said, in the coming weeks Ukraine will receive modern medium-range air-to-air missiles, known as AMRAAM. These missiles can be launched from NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems, which the United States has promised to provide to Ukraine.
Ukraine will also receive hundreds of additional air defense missiles of other types, along with additional aerial drones and 18 howitzers.
"The recent indiscriminate strikes on civilian areas in Ukraine serve as a basis for further support for those who seek to defend their state. Therefore, today I gave permission for the supply of AMRAAM anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine," Wallace said.
